Vietling schedules each word for the moment just before you would have forgotten it. Get one right and the gap to the next time grows; get it wrong and it comes back within minutes and starts growing again. That is the whole method, and it means the gaps are meant to look uneven. A word you have known for months genuinely does not need to be seen this week.
The daily number counts new words. On top of those come the reviews those words have earned — and once a word is solid, its example sentence as well. A day therefore holds more cards than new words, and settles as your deck matures. You can change the pace, or turn sentences off, under Settings.
Without an account, everything is stored on the device itself and stays there. Make an account under Settings and your progress is copied to our server, so signing in elsewhere brings it with you. You can also export a file or a code from Settings and restore it on the other device — useful if you would rather not have an account at all.
Every word and every example sentence has a recording, so audio should not depend on your device's own voices. Check the silent switch, and check the volume while a card is on screen — a phone remembers volume per output. Audio can also be replayed by tapping the word itself.
Settings → your account → Delete account. It removes your account and everything stored against it on our server, immediately, and you do not have to ask us to do it. Deleting the app removes what is on the device. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is stored and where.
